NAAB Symposium
NCBA President Welcomes Cattlemen to Montana
BOZEMAN, Mont. (June 1, 2011) — Bill Donald, president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and Melville, Mont., native, Wednesday welcomed cattlemen and women from across the country to the Beef Improvement Federation’s (BIF’s) 43rd Annual Research Symposium and Annual Meeting. The symposium was hosted June 1-4 on campus at Montana State University (MSU) in Bozeman.
“One thing that has always impressed me about BIF is the fact that we’re so focused on the improvement part; improving the way we raise beef,” Donald began. “As you look across this room here tonight and at this list of participants and this list of speakers, you can see that every segment is represented. The information [transferred] here in the next few days is going to do exactly what this name implies. It is going to improve the beef industry, and it has done that for many years.”
A past student of MSU, Donald was enthusiastic as he discussed improvements being made on the campus to benefit students in animal science, specifically the new MSU Animal Bioscience Building.
The building is a result of the “commitment, passion and vested interest” of supporters of the beef industry from all across Montana, Donald explained. These investors are completely committed to seeing to its being built and its eventual success.
“As you get the opportunity to look at it, look at what’s going to go on there and see the research and teaching that is going to be done in that building,” Donald challenged. “We take a lot of pride in that. Montana is going to be a leader and a player in the beef industry for generations to come.”

In regards to the future of the beef industry, Donald offered his sentiments: “There’s another generation coming up, and I’m here to tell you I’m proud of it, and I put my faith in it each and every day. There are people in the pipeline that are as passionate and dedicated to it as any of us old codgers.”
Given the stacked lineup of speakers and panelists expected to address the conference, Donald is confidant attendees will leave Bozeman more knowledgeable and confident in the industry than when they arrived.
“I just want to welcome you to Montana,” Donald concluded. “I want your time here to be important to you. I want it to be memorable. Hopefully it’s meaningful. And don’t get out of here without having some fun.”
