Tour 1 Ranch Profile:
J.D. Hudgins and V8 Ranch
V8 Ranch and J.D. Hudgins Inc. welcome the BIF to Hungerford, Texas. The Brahman breed, known for its ability to thrive in harsh climates, took roots in this area more than 100 years ago. It is now home to more than 2,000 head of the world's leading American Brahman cattle.
J.D. Hudgins Inc. was established in 1908 and is one of the early founders of the breed. The ranch is internationally known for establishing the "Manso" bloodline of cattle and their beef-type Brahmans. Throughout the years, the J.D. Hudgins Ranch has sold its American Brahman genetics into 35 states and 43 countries of the world.
V8 Ranch, originally established in 1944, is owned by Sloan Williams and his wife, Mollie, who is also a descendant of J.D. Hudgins. The V8 herd is recognized for the world's finest Brahman females and focuses on linebreeding these exceptional cow families.
Both ranches focus their No. 1 priority on raising beefy, low birthweight, gentle Brahman cattle with good carcass traits to be used as seedstock genetics in crossbreeding programs. Combined, the two ranches have won more national and international championships than any other ranches in Brahman history.
Both ranches are family-owned and family-operated by the fifth, sixth and seventh generations of descendants from the original ranch founders. It is with great pride for the Brahman breed that we invite you to tour both of these ranches to showcase Brahman breeding programs and management and enjoy Texas hospitality at it's best.
